Hmmm, thinking about going...

Well I really have never been to a con, and well figured I should shock and awe myself by making my first one the alleged "Biggest" one in the US. I figured book flights and hotel three months ahead and get a cheaper price and kinda be gerunteed that I would at least have a place to stay... So I was wondering, is anyone else going and what would be a good price to travel at? Im looking at right now, approx. 800$ for a hotel and flight alone, plus food and regisration so it's looking to be about 950$.

The Anthrocon hotels filled up a LOOOONG time ago. Further confusion hotel reservations open up today at five for a convention 9 months from now and I expect the hotel to be full within a week.
Best way to go would be to try looking on the anthrocon forums for roomshares. See if there is anyone that has an extra spot for the duration of the convention and that should save you a great deal of money on the hotel. For flights, Southwest is having a pretty good deal at the moment for summer flights, so I would check them out. Last I checked, it was about $350 round trip, which is fairly good. Reg is still cheap (you can pre-reg) and if you do plan on going, definitely get that done.
In my experiences with conventions, the biggest isn't always the best and can sometimes be a bit overwhelming as well. What makes a convention are the friends that you know going and the people you meet and click with there. Anthrocon is a lot of fun, but I've always gone with a large group of friends from across the country. you have some time before this con, and I absolutely recommend connecting with people online at least that are going so that you have a few friends and acquaintances to be with while you're there. I absolutely agree. I would not have had any fun at FC if I was alone, even though I had a fursuit to go run around in and be a fool.
